my disco 53 plate is having trouble starting cold ive noticed that now and then the glow plug light doesnt come on
any help would be great
thanks

on a D2 you can remove the relay, the fuse or all the glow plugs and the warning light must come on as it's controlled by the ECU based on temp. sensor's signal

oooooo I thought the lamp would be on one of the poles of the relay, to signal that its on and working, stupid landrover design??

i just took ecu out and it was covered in oil cleaned up and dried will try tomorrow on a cold day
thanks for your help

i changed the harness and give everything a good clean but if anything its worse today the engine turning over ok but not engine not starting
any other ideas
thanks

Did you open up and clean the ecu out with electric contact cleaner . Or did you just clean out the plug socket on it

the engine when warm starts straight away also how do i check the fuel pump the easy way
thanks
Sorry thought you said it wouldn't start and just turned over after new harness and a clean . Could try next cold start if if don't start 1st time is to then do a purge start up routine from the hand book .

i couldnt start it yesterday it eventually started today later on when starting it wouldnt fire i checked by the filter and the pump was running i dont know if this is right

After changing fuel filter did you do the purge start up to get any air out of fuel lines . It's in the hand book on how to do it . Plus if your battery's a bit week/old you might be best doing it while hooked up to jump leads . As it take a lot of cold cranking from a battery to get them started! This could be a factor in your poor starting ?
