First picture was from a Series 3 manual, with 3 wires connected to the coil. This picture is my car with just one positive low tension connection and the other connectors vacant. Does it earth through the holding clamp or should it have a wire connection to negative on distributor?Power to positive on coil, negative connection goes to distributor. Without that nothing happens.
What's going on in your pic don't know, not enough info.
Thanks to all, being novice I confused HT with LT on wiring diagram. Now found the connector to distributor and problem solved, running sweetlyYou should have two terminals on your coil. One will be marked + or sw and the other will be marked - or cb, Connect the + terminal to the wire from the ignition switch and connect the - terminal to the small lead on your distributor. If you have an electronic distributor you will have two leads, one red one and one black one. Connect the red lead to the + terminal on the coil with the ignition lead and the black one to the - terminal on the coil.
