Hello, I'm looking to buy a code reader for a FL2, I've done a quick search and looked on ebay and it looks like a minefield...Can anyone help with a make and model that they use....Cheers

Depends how much you have to spend. Hawkeye is made by the same people who make LR's test book (t4), but it's expensive at best part of £300. Some Freelander 2 options require the BA5080 connector added in series with the odbii cable which is extra to pay. The Hawkeye is on sale but they're still working on it in the background adding additional features and fixing faults. I've had 2 free software updates from them. The recent v7 software has had new options added in the Freelander 1 menu as well as many bug fixes. Each type of LR vehicle is licensed differently. You get 1 license and you choose which vehicle type you want it to work on. FL1, FL2 and Disco 3 are all different vehicles. Sometimes there's sales where you get 2 licenses. You can buy additional licenses too.

Freelander 2 menu options below:

More examples on my you tube account but they're all for the FL1 at the time of posting this.

There's also cheaper alternatives to buy.

Thanks raywin.......Minefield....Starting to look like the Hawkeye is the one...Now just need to find my wallet and the WD40 to get in it:D

I have the Carsoft i930 for my 2002 TD4 Auto. It is better than a cheapy OBD reader but not all that much. It can clear codes on some of the systems but it doesn't give all the data it could.

I would (had I more money) have bought the Hawkeye. The FL2 should be more ODB compliant but some of the functions may need the better tool.
