I'm getting pretty ****ed with owning a discovery. I have owned it since Feb 2008 and have had a new starter motor, new ACE pipes (£800+) and now my bloody clutch has gone! Its a 1997 series 2 TD5, i really dont want to get rid but its costing me a lot of cash (wrong time of year aswell!!!)
I have been given a price of £450 - £500 to supply and fit a new one. What do you guys reckon??

Fault - Gears have been getting worse over the last few months. Yesterday went near impossible to get in gear after someone else drove it and today no clutch at all!! I cant even start the car in gear as it jumps forward! (the brake and clutch fluid is also full)

Sell it me spares/repairs i'll av the work done and make a fat profit :D... seriously.. depends on the rest of it, if its worth the new clutch then get it done

Yeah 1997 T reg
The rest of the vehicle is spotless so i'd be a dick not to get the work done and keep it!

sorry 1999 T reg!!

Lol '99 that sounds better! Not too sure on the going rate for TD5 clutches tbh but £450-500 does sounds quite alot....I would personally get a few quotes and see the difference if any(?)

Good luck with it and let us know how much it costs.

Cheers.

Someone i know who used to work for landrover will do it for £200. He will let me know how much for the parts tomorrow.
Fingers crossed i can do it for less than £400

Bit of an update! The guy is doing the clutch for £200, the clutch is costing £140+vat and if i need a new flywheel (which 99% of the time you do) that'l be another £245! So it is either gonna cost £400 or £700! Should be done by wednesday

hire a engine crane and do it youself ,piece of **** , wecome to the wold of landrovers, i have got three of them and have spent more time under them than in them , but i love them!
