Hi all

First time posting on here so if in the wrong place i apologise.

I have had my Series 111 109 2.25 petrol for a few years now, it has unfortunately been sitting for 2 while i slowly get it back to running order.

Onto my issue, having been sat for a couple years i recently got it started and decided to see if it would move, the clutch pedal was completely solid and being the oaf that i am i leaned on it until it went to the floor. Now there is no feeling to the pedal it goes up and down with no resistance although still springs back up.

Clearly i have broken something but have no idea where to start looking/replacing, any and all help appreciated, thank you for your time.

Edit: There are no clutch fluid leaks (that i can see)

Hi. Yeah this is the right place. Make sure you post an introduction in the introduce yourself section too, we all like pics.

@jamesmartin
@rob1miles

These two gents might know what’s going on. Hopefully they’ll be about soon :)

Awesome. Nice to see another person around my age with a series. I’ll go check out those pics now.

I would bet the master cylinder has stuck in the inward position at the 1st press of the pedal.
You will probably find that your clutch plate is also stuck to the flywheel and will need freeing , this usually in volves starting engine getting it warmed up and then stopping engine putting it in gear with the brakes on and restarting engine. Need to make sure landrover cannot hit anything if it moves.

I checked the master late yesterday, it was almost dry and had no movement, new master cylinder, slave cylinder and hoses on the way. Hopefully this sorts it, if not I will try your suggestion for freeing the clutch, cheers.

Agreed re freeing clutch, starting a warm engine in gear and driving round with the clutch pedal down usually does it.

I'll bet I need reminding of this in about 6 months. :)

Hi all, sorry to bring back a dead thread but i thought i would provide an update.

When i removed the master cylinder it was completely corroded and the seals had failed, after changing it the clutch is now working fine bit the adjuster rod is completely wound out, so i will be a needing a clutch anyway.

I really appreciate the help and advice you guys gave me.

As James has mentioned if you haven't done it replace the slave cylinder as well as its always best to replace them both together ;)
