Problem with clutch on my hippo
2001 td4
Clutch started playing up few weeks ago
When missus was driving it
And clutch pedal stuck to floor and was still in gear
Did this once last year to me but just pulled it back up and it was ok since a few weeks ago when did same thing.
Rang a guy who used to work at the main steamers and he said was master cylinder. Had a new one only 15000 miles ago so replaced master cylinder last week and was fine HAPPY DAYS or so I thought
Started sticking in again !!!!!
Saw a previous thread where someone had put a return spring on and another where it said spray clutch mechanism with wd40.
Any thoughts guys on what it may be cos def not master cylinder ????
Before I have to take the hippo to the vet ?????
Cheers...

If the master cylinder is ok then it will most likely be the slave cylinder/release bearing inside the bellhousing ,gearbox out to replace unfortunately .Do a search on here for "TD4 clutch pedal",as for cost it depends where you take it and whether you change the clutch at the same time(which would be the best thing to do if you intend to keep your freelander)

On the L series yes, the TD4 can be disassembled. Trouble is the slave cylinder is on the back of the release bearing so its a gearbox out job I'm afraid.

Different gearbox and separate cylinders on a Td4 MHM.

Have you checked if it's using fluid? if not I wouldn't condemn the slave cylinder just yet.

Check the return spring is OK, it's a weird arrangement and even lube the pedal mechanism in the hope you can improve the return.

Thanks guys will try a good coating of lube and see where it gets me
Will see how it goes and may have to bite the bullet and take it to the Vets
