Hi folks
TD4, 2005, manual. i'd found my gears sticky and hard to engage, it was worse on starting and improved with use. my mechanic took it to the local landy guy who diagnosed clutch cylinder, so we replaced it. day after replacment it was worse than before. i was driving from belfast to cork and it was bad all the way. got into it next morning in cork and it was perfect! drove it around rural cork for two days, no problems at all. drove back up north and by the time i was home it was slightly sticky again.
Could it be that temperature is effecting something as there was a 3-4 degree difference in day time temperatures between the two places?

My mechanic is saying it's now a new clutch, what do you think?

thx chaser. any idea what sort of money i should be spending on a new clutch? i just got all 4 injectors replaced so i'm still reeling from that bill. :(

It's quite a job on any freelander and prices vary quite significantly, £400-£700 so shop around. Taking into account cost of complete clutch, concentric slave cylinder, ird and gearbox oils and a fair amount of labour it soon adds up.
