noticed today my clutch slipping on my td5,Iv known about a slight weep at the master by the pedals for a couple of weeks and intend to change ASAP.
Possibly linked? Or am I living in a cloud of false hopes and dreams that are about to be shattered like my friction plate??
Any help or advice is always appreciated
 
The master cylinder is used to disengage the clutch so that shouldn't cause slip unless something has jammed somehow. It might make it harder to disengage the clutch to change gear though. I have just changed the clutch on ours after living with it slipping for 18 months, while building up the courage to have a go.

You're looking in the wrong place, master won't leak into the bell housing and you are looking at a wore out clutch and a lot of effort or expense.

I know it won’t,I meant if there’s air in the system causing things to not move properly.
Il be doing it on the floor myself,done plenty on a ramp so will be an interesting experience on my back haha

The air in it would work the opposite way and would compress before the fluid and would cause the clutch not to disengage.

Used some plastic ramps for the front wheels and bought an engine hoist which I resold afterwards and recouped my money. It was outdoors and was hindered by some awful weather. Some problems most of my own making, but got by with help from James Martin, Gazbo and Berg450. Thats the great thing about this forum.

I don’t have ramps but have a big jack which I hope will be high enough.
Problem is I have a gravel driveway with a path down the centre which makes whatever I do a real chew,have to make sure the boxes are above the path I suppose.
Not bothered about tackling the job it’s the removal itself of the gearbox that I’m worried about.
I don’t have access to a hoist,and again the gravel would make that pretty difficult,was thinking of possibly fabbing a cradle for my jack like what’s used on transmission jacks?

Yes fery I agree,would be a false economy not to do dmf aswell.
I planned on taking it green laning very soon so is maybe a bit of luck it’s happened now and not in the middle of nowhere!
 
I have used wooden blocks (10cm high) under front and back wheels. For removal of gearbox I have added additional 10cm so all together 20cm made me feel "comfortable" under the car. I have used first time a standard jack with LRT-99-010 support plate fixed to that (you can do one at home for yourself). Second time I used transmission jack (much better) also with this plate (first I removed tbox than gearbox).
But if you do not have a firm level place where you can do this job than it will be hard. Even you use transm jack or hoist you will need to be able to easily move it when you remove or put back the boxes.
 
Update on this,the slipping seems to have stopped now,pedal is a bit high but strange how it’s stopped
Every other car Iv known they get worse not better?!

You’re clutch will need sorting out dude! LOF clutch’s look like the one
 
I changed mine about fifteen months after it started slipping. Some days it wasn't as bad and I accelerated more gradually to accommodate it. It feels great once the clutch has been changed.
