Hello,

As part of my rebuild I decided to replace the clutch slave cylinder. The metal pipe that goes between that and the flexible hose was stuck tight, so bought a replacement pipe too.

The pipe is bearmach branded - I'd hoped this would mean a good quality part that fitted first time. The first pipe I was sent was a completely different shape - i emailed the company I bought from and bearmach who were apologetic and had a new one sent out. They said they bend the pipes themselves according to a pattern, but it must have had a quality control issue.

The replacement pipe was sent and I received it on Tuesday. It looked a different shape, but not quite the same as the original - I thought i'd try it anyway, as surely they wouldn't send two that were completely wrong....

I tried to fit it last night and this is the result:

You can see the big gap between the bracket and the salve cylinder it's supposed to bolt onto.

Has anyone else had this issue? Have I got some funny setup? (though the first and second pipe are different enough to not be compatible with anything....)

I've sent the same photo to bearmach, so will see what they say too.

I may also try bending the pipe, though i'm not sure how succesfull this will be

ps I'm aware I'm missing the nut on the flexible pipe...I thought leaving it off for the time being until I've got the bracket and pipe attached would give me more room to move....

i wouldnt try bending the pipe ,its clearly wrong, you can manage well enough without the bracket for the time been

ok cool - I was just checking that it wasn't I had some weird bracket that was wrong - I can't see how they've got away with selling them in that shape in the past - or maybe noone buys new as they're so expensive (mine was cheaper - almost £20 including delivery etc - but i've seen them for 40 or 50. It's thicker than normal brake pipe, I guess maybe clutch is higher pressure than brake?

Presumably I should be looking to use the bracket long term? At the moment it's a lot easier to access as haven't got wing on and i've taken off the bulkhead support - so really I want it sorted soon, as otherwise it's going to hold me up finishing off the landy

Is it an original build vehicle or has it been re-engined / converted the past? If it has it could have been a combination of different of engine / gearbox and mount positioning which makes things align slightly different and the one you are replacing was custom made during the modification?

Its a factory 200tdi with lt77...so my understanding is that the pipe and bracket should be factory.....its possible someone has messed with it in the past, but not got anything to compare it to

no higher pressure its a 1/4 pipe rather than the 3/16ths used for the brake lines ,make one out of copper if you have a 1/4 flaring kit

So, got back in touch with bearmach and they ordered a pattern from land rover and made a new one!

Tried it against the old slave/pipe and seems fine - here is the new one (left) with the two previous ones.

To be fair they've been very proactive about sorting it - at least its done now! Hopefully can fit it tomorrow and get the clutch bled through

Are they all the same part number?
