[SIZE=-1]HELP....

I've got a 1.8 petrol Freelander. The clutch pedal went slack as I pulled into my street last week, upon inspection the slave cylinder had broken, so I replaced the master and slave - the first time I pressed the pedal to test it the new slave broke as well.

Any ideas as to what could be causing it?

Thanks

When you say the slave cylinder broke, do you mean it came off the bracket? If so, check the bracket. I had a similar problem where one of the "fingers" that hold the slave cylinder had stress fractured. If the complete finger isn't there then the slave cylinder will slip off under load and destroy itself. I fitted a new bracket and hydroalic system and the job was a good un.

Hope that helps,

Cheers, Dave

Thanks:

No it's not the bracket, it's the hydralic 'arm/rod' that seems to be breaking off. The actual cylinder is still attached to the bracket.

I'd unsrw ur bracke and take a look a the conditon of it. the rod my be breking because it's at an angle due to a brke./bent bracket.
