Thank you gents - I'll give that a go!

About how many mm should that clutch fork arm move?

I can't remember now, was a few years ago.

On Wednesday I took 2 gas bottles out of a camper. On Thursday I went to put them back and couldn't remember where they came from! 1 was OK, there was a box on the side of the van that said 'LPG', so worked that 1 out - but could not for the life of me remember where I got the other 1 from. There didn't look to be anywhere for it. Then I start wondering if I did indeed remove both from the same van. At 1 point I seriously thought dementia had set in, I was really quite concerned for my health for a while.

Turns out it was the rather silly way the previous person had put it in the van, and I hadn't considered this at the time as I just grabbed it.

The vacab' of naughty words got a work-out today! Hooking up the slave cylinder to the release fork arm What a B___h:( I used a workshop grip clamp and an old round headed bolt to push the piston but as soon as I took the clamp off it would move right back to where it was. It took lots of attempts to get it it place but eventually it got there.

Now my question is: about how many mm should the slave cylinder rod come out when the clutch pedal is pressed?

Can't do much else until that IRD 'O' ring arrives in the post - sigh.

Oh dear, I feel for you and can totally relate to those frustrating tasks that, on the face of it, should be so simple!

Its why the new ones have those plastic ties on.

I'll have a look at mine later.
