Evening all,

Last week the clutch master cylinder went on my 109 so i changed it, did the slave and the bit of hose that joins the two pipes a few days later.

Now i just cannot get the thing to bleed, i've tightened everything and its not leaking but air is still getting in somewhere

There a slight kink in the pipe and what i think is a small hole so would i be right in thinking that kinda thing would cause my problem?

thanks
mat

have you bleed properly ie depress clutch open bleed /tighten bleed before you release peddle !!

i'd been doing it by opening the bleed then depressing peddle and then releasing peddle, think its the haynes manual way.

I'll give the way you say a try in the morning. cheers!

do you get a firmer peddle if you pump the peddle mate !!!
have you being tightening the bleed when you release the clutch peddle ? if you have not thats your problem mate

Yeah the peddle gets firmer if i pump it.

No i havent been tightening it when i release the peddle, i'll give it another go in the morning.

thats your problem tighten before you release then you will get a peddle after a few goes mate and yes you can buy kits to assist yoy and there good but just do as i say and you will be soted in a hour ready to go

I've followed the method you gave me, i've got the clutch peddle back but the bite point is really low, about an inch of the floor maybe abit less.

Might just need more bleeding. Does the bite point change if you pump it a few times.

Otherwise, adjust travel on the master cylinder.

Bite stays the same if i pump it.

Travel on the master cylinder is the rod the goes through the top of the peddle isnt it? The one thats a pain to undo?

I find it easiest to adjust the master cylinder by locking the nut nearest the cylinder using a large screwdriver as a wedge between the nut and the housing - then using a ring spanner on the nut the other side of the trunnion. Needs to be a little play to allow the piston tho return fully and allow recuperation (Valve - open state allowing pressure to be removed, cylinder replenished etc.)
