Am moving ermy(series 2 a ) , she has new clutch recon g/box 2 yrs ago sat around since( waiting for me to win lottery,or wife to stop skiing all the bloody time) .... will go into gear if i start with dipressed clutch and in gear but just grinds if i start in neutral and try to select gear. fluid levels are good.
Any IDEAS please

Bleed it, little nipple on the slave - or adjust the travel of the rod within the master housing - does it still grind if you pump the clutch a few times?

will go and bleed it but it does still refuse to go into gear when it is run....fine if started in gear pumping pedal makes no differance (same as wife)

Your clutch plate as stuck to the drive plate.
to un-stick it do the following.

1. Jack up rear and put in two axil stands.
2. With the rear wheels off the ground and in 2 wheel drive.
3. Chock the front wheels and relase the hand brake
4. start it in 2nd gear and let her warm up (Rear wheels turning)
5. Whan warm rev up press the clutch and stamp on the brake.
6 Repeate untill there is a bang and the clutch will release.

This works!

However, another way that can often fix a stuck clutch is to jam the clutch pedal down and leave it overnight, or till the day after tomorrow, or next week.

With pressure released because the pedal is jammed down, the clutch centre plate will tend to loosen itself from being stuck to either or both of the flywheel and / or pressure-plate of the cover. If this works (as it did last month on my 1972 Liner dumper) it is like a miracle cure - all you did was jam the pedal down and leave it a while.

Well worth trying, and the longer you can leave it the better chance you have.
