Just been sat at the lights, pressed the clutch to put in to gear, I felt something give and the clutch pedel stayed down. Couldn't get it in to gear luckily I was on a hill so free wheeled it out of the way. Now sat waiting for the RAC to come. It's a disco 1 300tdi, any thoughts on the problem and what's needed to fix, any idea of price?? All feedback much appreciated!

Sounds like the clutch fork to me ... unfortunately that's a clutch out job so you may as well fit the whole clutch kit to save having to do it twice.

As far as cost goes, estimate £400 for a garage to do it ... the clutch kit will cost you around £100.

The slave cylinder had come away, bolts hadn't sheered or anything and were still there due to all gunk holding them there. He's managed to get it back together but it wouldn't bleed up. Says I need a new slave cylinder and possible the valve. Sound about right? When I felt the pressure give on the pedal, he says that was the last bolt coming out.
