Did exactly the same me sell clutch now bites at top of pedal travel. just been over to carlisle and back (about 150 mile allround ) didn`t slip but still looking at prices to replace...

i have this prob to with my van on the back try not to rev the nuts out when reversing i let my clutch out slowly and next to no revs this is hard on a slope , i let my wife put ower van on the pitch at easter and she had the clutch stinking no ill afects but it is a brand new clutch , if your car has a out of spec maf it will have crap low down torque and you will have to rev it hard to move your van rover ron can fix this one for you , failing that you will just have to limit your reversing and live with it . the freelander is a great tug till you want to go backwards with a caravan.
