I just recently got a 2002 Freelander TD4 ESX, 129,000 miles and I'm a little concerned about the clutch and wondered if anyone had any ideas? The car drives great jus the clutch is really short...once its depressed the whole way to the floor it kicks in when you lift it the slightest bit at all. I have a 2000 XDI Freelander and its clutch albeit a little heavier than the 2002 one it bites in roughly in the middle of raising the clutch where I'd roughly expect it to and its only got 93000 miles so was wondering if there was something wrong with the clutch or does the TD4 model jus kick in a little sooner?

Many Thanks to anyone who knows anything about it :)

I don't have this problem as mine is an auto, but I seem to remember some threads about a clip holding the slave cylinder breaking allowing it to move back. Search and you should find them, this might be your problem.

Thanks guys gonna give the bleeding a go and see how that works out first before going ahead and getting a new clutch. Will let ye's know if the bleeding works, I'm hoping it will :)

Had a closer look into the clutch and looked at the manual too, and turns out as far as i can see the master seal is gone as there is a little bit leaking in at the foot well and the hydraulic fluid was all dirty too so got a few parts ordered so hoping that will do the trick unless there's something more than meets the eye.
