Can I make the pipe that goes from the master cylinder to the flexi pipe that goes to the slave cylinder?? It’s 1/4 pipe though and my flaring tool only does 3/16.

In short no...
Im sure ive got a flaring kit you can use. I will rake the shed in the morning & check. ;)

A local garage should be able to make one up for you fairly cheaply. I looked at buying one of those before incase I had to replace it and they're bloody silly money for a length of pipe

I can get the pipe and a flaring tool the same as the one I have but for 1/4 pipe. I think that’s the only pipe that’s 1/4 though, so once I’ve done it the tool will probably be left on a shelf !!

The series 2/A motors are 1/4 pipe from reserviors to both slaves, not sure on s1 models, point I am trying to make is buy the tools and the pipe and get as much as you can back for the tools after making your pipe.

I will probably buy the tools and pipe as you suggest, but they’re highly likely to go in the toolbox and stay there as I’m a tool junkie and never sell any :)
To be honest, the pipe that’s there is fine condition wise, but it goes along to the centre of the bulkhead from the M/Cylinder, down about a foot, back to the footwell then out to the flexi hose. It’s a long road for a shortcut and I just wanted to tidy it up along with some really messy brake pipe and wiring.

Well I tried to undo this pipe today and it’s gubbed. Why do they always put these together dry and they seize solid. I’ve ordered a roll of Kunifer 1/4 pipe, fittings male and female and a flaring tool. All in about £70 which is the same as the pre made pipe would cost. But now I have the gear…..that I’ll never use again :)

Measure the length, and maybe make a few and sell on here or ebay and get your money back?

How would package something like that ?? Good idea though, but I’m more into helping folk if I can than making money off of them. I’ve had my fingers burnt on a few occasions though giving things away then finding out they have sold them. Kind of ****es you off but that’s my own fault I suppose

Coil it up, then wrap between two flat bits of cardboard, maybe double thickness cardboard ie 4 sheets?
I meant sell them not give them away, just enough to recover your costs plus a bit for your time, if they are half the price of others out there, then its a no brainer if someone needs one.

You could be Lord Sugars next apprentice ;) If you ever need one keep me in mind and I’ll make it up a send you it. No problem :)

I made up the pipe and fitted it today.

Nice job, looks much sturdier than the original too
Quite pleased with it. The tools and pipe cost me roughly what an actual pipe would have cost, but now I’ve got them in case I need them again. In fact I ended up getting the roll of pipe for nothing. I ordered Kunifer and they sent galv steel. They ended up giving me a full refund and I used it anyway. It’s harder to work with though.

What kit did you get? I've used my mates stuff to do steel brake lines and it was a pain to get a decent flare on them, he's a mechanic and has got very expensive kit. I do have a cheap brake flaring tool but it wouldn't hurt to get a good quality one

This one. I’ve got the standard size one as well. They are brilliant and I like the fact you can cut and flare pipes still on the car.

Aye I might do, 50 quids not bad and it would save money in the long run
Honestly, it’s a great tool. I have cut the bad end off steel brake pipes on the disco and flared the steel pipe end and joined in a piece of copper pipe with a straight connector. Well worth the money.
