Evening Folks,

Baffled, I had the clutch etc replaced for genuine parts about 3 years ago and this evening I went out for a wee run and suddenly the clutch pedal hid the floor and never rose again, 😒.

Would not go into gear, after many attempts managed to get it going in 2nd gear and got it off the road & to a safe place.

Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this. Lastly no visual signs of fluids leaking within the engine bay or on the tarmac.

TIA

Hi

The clutch slave is certaintly leaking fluid ... yes sometime it fails even if it's a genuine for no reason ...
Need to open the clutch just to change it, good luck.

Open the clutch fluid bottle, to check the fluid level, top it, close it, hit the clutch pedal, you will see if you loose fluid ...

Next time start directly in second gear when you have no clutch ;)

Has it lost all the fluid? Master cylinder can fail by not pushing the fluid pressure to slave through internal seals.

I use Advanced Factors for parts like that.
They only sell parts they'd fit themselves.

Nodge are they reasonable and do they tell you what brand they are selling ?
Advanced Factors are my go to place for brake, clutch and suspension components for LR vehicles.
If you call them, they'll tell you what make they sell, which is normally from an OE supplier.

Hi,

You will pay for almost 6 hours of labour, once the clutch bell opened, it will not take to change the plate …

For me, the more important is to change the master cylinder, if it haven’t been changed.

Hi there! Same **** happened to me 2 weeks ago, clutch pedal floored and didn't rose (FL1 Td4). I bought new master pump from GB and finally it reached Norway. Yesterday I removed the old one - and around midnight (in the land of midnight sun) I could declare that the clutch was good as new. I didn't open the old one - but from experince I guess that the "rubber hats" were worn out (car has run 250 000 km).

And a useful tip: do not remove the old line, it's to much and narrow work. Just tap out the new one from the new pump and refit the old line to the new pump.

And finally: I have a LHD car, so I had to remove the fuse box, the ECU box and the battery to have enough space in the engine bay.
