think i need to bleed my clutch on my td4 lhd 2006 freelander 1,have to press pedal almost to floor to change gear .how can i get to master clyinder to top up fliuid as it hidden behind ecu,can anyone help please

I'm assuming yours is a left hand drive car so you might have to unbolt the fuse box and pull it out of the way. It is pretty easy to do but to top up the master you will need some pipe.
BTW low bite point on Freelanders is very common so search here for options. In my case I blame a cheap ebay master cylinder so if yours has been replaced then check it is a proper Land Rover part that was used.

I gained an inch of travel on my clutch pedal by putting a bit of wood between the clutch slave and the bracket that holds it to stop any play in it. now it bites an inch off the carpet rather than on the floor.

Is that on the K or L Series engine though rather than TD4?

Have you got a picture Joe? I'd like to see whether I can do something similar on my 1.8 K-series FL1 :)

Hi sorry no picture but just shove a wedge in there to stop the slave from moving when you press the pedal and it will take out some of the play. I held it in with a screw to stop it slipping down and a cable tie.

Is this the problem you've solved:

The above is actually a ZS180, but looks pretty similar to the Freelander 1.8 set up?

Yes I took out the air filter hoses and box- only 2 bolts and the whole lot comes out, you're looking straight down onto it then, easy to get to.

I had it all out when I rebuilt the engine, but the clutch was fine then! LOL

I'll take out the air box again and have a look at what is going on :)
