Apologies if this is a repeat but I have searched and found similar, but not the same.

I just bought a Freelander 2, 2010 with 59k on the clock.
Occasionally the clutch pedal sticks for a split second. It tends to happen more if I'm more aggressive, so if I need to shift a bit more quickly.
I had the clutch fluid changed on Friday and it happened once after.
The dealer is willing to refund me but I don't want that. I'd like to get to the bottom of it and come to an agreement. Can anyone offer any advice? The clutch does not slip at all and other than this, operates fine.

look on top of the pedal there is a plastic tube put your hand on the pedal and look upwards,
you will see a piston, I sprayed a bit of wd40 on mine and has been fine for the last six month`s,
hope this helps if not somebody else might be able to help more.

So a bit of follow up info. I took this back to the dealer to repair. They said that they found the cause to be the crank case seal was leaking. They replaced it and returned it to me. It's been perfect for a month, then it happened again the other day. I am not taking it back to the dealer as it will be a whole load of messing about again. Any ideas? It literally sticks for a nano second and it's quite sudden, which is a bit of a shock when it happens. Although just now I am sure it felt like it returned slowly. Drives perfect most of the time.

Not quite sure how a leaky crankcase seal would cause the pedal to stick, but while they were in there they could have changed the clutch slave cylinder.

Might be time for a decent independent to look at it.

OP:- Has the pedal fulcrum been lubricated as described above as per per posts 4&5 ?

If so, then it sounds like yer crank case seal has gone again

As per post #7 - I'd be wanting a proper explanation of how any "crank case seal" is the culprit.

Yes, we did that before taking it back to the garage. Also had the clutch fluid changed.
I'm done with the dealer though, it's 100 miles away and I don't have time to keep driving there, plus he wasn't that easy to deal with. I have spoken to someone locally who mentions the slave cylinder or master cylinder. I think I am just going to have to wait for it to break as diagnosing intermittent faults is almost impossible.

If this FL2 came with a warranty, then assuming you still have cover under it, I'd be using that to find the fault - IIRC, such warranties are "usable" at any VAT registered garage ??
