Hi all, i have a land rover freelander with the 1.8 16v petrol engine. The problem i have is that the clutch pedal is hard to push down and sometimes can be hard to get in gear. I was thinking maybe the problem is the clutch master cylinder or possibly the clutch itself?

Thanks.

Try bleeding the clutch hydraulic system first and check the bracket that the clutch slave cylinder is mounted on at the gearbox as this has been known to bend.

Hi All

My 2003 Td4 has the same problem. Done about 130k now and the clutch requires a bit of force to push down. Only get a smooth gear change when the pedal is on the floor. Been looking for a clue as to why? Cant see anything wrong with the mounting. Bleed the system and checked for leaks etc. All looks OK to me. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Cheers
