Hi all

My Clutch is on its way out on my 200tdi. Peddle is becoming heavy, it is juddering when clutch is down and in gear whilst stationary.

What would you expect to pay for a clutch change?

Cheers

James

Hi James

I have been having problems with the thrust bearing on my clutch [mainly sqealing] any way its one of thise jobs that needs the gear box stripping out etc [as you would do with a clutch assembly]

And, as it is out you would be stupid not to replace the whole clutch assembly.

I have been to a couple of Land Rover specialists in my area and been quoted £500 and £700. God knows what th ecost would be wit a main dealer????

This price range is dependant on a couple of things :-

A - the usual "sharp intake of breath" .... it could take longer if there are any seized nuts and bolts etc.

B - what parts are going to be used IE original Land Rover or Valeo or some other make.

The advice i have been getting is use original parts as other makes xan rattle and be problematic [how true this is i have no idea]

My LR is 2001 TD5, i dont know if a TDi200 would be cheaper. Possibly the parts may be but i imagone the workshop hours will be the same.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hi

Have not got a quota yet from craddocks as they said to me on Saturday they don't sell new clutches and go and see the chap who break them for a second hand one

been quoted £400 + vat form mercia 4x4 near Norton canes

I had to have a new clutch for a disco 300 Tdi a few weeks ago, got it for about £65.00 from LUK. It took all day to replace as the engine had to be taken out. I then did the stupid thing of breaking one on the hollow bolts going into the fuel filter - DON'T do it up too tight - they snap!
