Hi Guys
I have a 2001 td5 the problem is when I first start it up and select reverse gear there is a wineing noise which is coming from the clutch it also does it in first gear as I pull away but after a while it goes away ???? any ideas before i have to put it to dealership (ps any ideas of good independents in the Falkirk area)
Many Thanks.

Edit my initial reply yours is a td5 so it could be thrust release bearing or duel mass flywheel.

Opinions differ on best way to do land rover clutches-I prefer engine removal over gearbox removal due to weight.

local specialist should be able to listen and give a price if your not able to do it

Thanks again Fanatic
Think thats above my ability and dont have facilities, for to do that sort of work i`m just a daft builder.
looking like heavy on the pocket again.
cheers

Mines does exact same. Only there after i fitted new OEM clutch and bearing. I plan to leave it. Got used to it now.

on td5 spigot bush in crank needs to be checked for wear and size especially ifnew one fitted they can be tight on gear box input shaft which leads to noise when pedal pressed
