My series 3 has started making a whirring/grinding noise when the clutch pedal is depressed. It only happens when the vehicle is started cold and prior to the first gear selection (no problem actually selecting gear). After that it is fine, no noise or problem selecting gears and will not happen again until the landy has been unused for a day or night. Is my clutch on its way out or could this be something else ?

Had a similar problem many years ago on a mini of all things... it was the thrust bearing, not expensive but not a quick job.
