hi my boss has a 110 defender & recently lost all fluid & subsequently lost all pressure ! after replacing both master and slave cylinders all was working well for about 6 weeks , but now the pedal has gone a little softer but still has a bit of resistance but not engaging , where as before it just dropped to the floor !
any thoughts appreciated , thnx

Fluid level down ?

Damp or wet on the pedal arm / carpet under it ?

could it just be a case of topping it up & rebleeding ??

That's a good place to start, but the stuff has to be going somewhere, it don't evaporate easily !!!

Sometimes the slave cylinder can leak into the bell housing ... worth having a peek ?

Take the slave forward enough to see if it is weeping at all ...

could it be really be leaking from the slave after just 6 weeks ?

It can leak from anywhere after a drive round the block !!!

A loose union, a split pipe or a worn seal ... the increase in pressure from changed parts may weaken otherwise good parts !!!

Why does it rain when you wash the car ?

Cos it does !!! ;)

Same happened to mine after I replaced my slave cylinder. I topped it up and re-bled and its been fine since. To bleed it I got my girlfriend to keep topping the reservoir up as I undid the clutch slave cylinder bleed nipple and let it run into a container for a minute. Nipped up the bleed nipple and topped it up and clutch has been great since.
