The clutch biting point on my 1.8 is very low! All I need to do is lift my foot from a fully depressed clutch pedal and it starts to bite! The car has only done 73k miles!

My previous FL clutch was much higher than this! Is the clutch plate wearing out or is it more of a slave cylinder problem?

Your clutch might be on its way out . First check your slave bracket . Remove the slave cylinder ,keep the piston pressed ,so it dunt leak . You might find the bracket about to break .

Had the same problem last week turned out to be master cylinder, but first remove air filter and check that the "c" clip is still fitted to the slave cylinder and that the bracket is not bent or broken, you could get someone to press the clutch while you look what is going on if you search this forum you should find a picture if you are unsure about the "c" clip or how it fits into the bracket

Hi,
Sorry to hijack your thread but I have the exact same problem. I have changed the master/slave cylinder and the bracket this evening but the clutch is still biting just off the floor.
Any suggestions or is it a new clutch job?

Test to make sure your clutch arm isnt siezed.

Its the last thing you can check before gearbox removal.

Hi,
I've been away at work for a while and had no internet so just getting back to it.

Thanks for the suggestion Vissie but can you tell me how much travel there should be in the arm as my one only moves about one to two centimetres?

I changed the fluidic system on me FL (costs about £90) and although the biting point is still a bit low, the gear change is much improved. The old slave cylinder rod was rusty and had a leak!
