Ive got a defender 90 td5 and i keep getting a clunking noise when changing gear just as i start to acelerate, like there is a worn prop uj, but ive checked the ujs and change one on the front of the transfer box that had a bit of play but it made no difference it is still there.

The clunk feels like it is coming through the floor under the drivers feet?

Does anyone have any clues?

Thanks

I hope it is ill get one ordered, ive been told it might be alsorts like the daul mass flywheel or the splines between tranfer box and gearbox

Thanks anyway

I have the same on my Disco mate, search brings up fair few potential culprits, so think will start with the cheapest up to most expensive and hope its cured lower down the list!

dont think the splines are a issue on the td5 they had crossdrilled input gear in the tranny box

Ive checked the ball joint and it has got a good 3-4mm of play up and down and theres not much left of the rubber cover, ive ordered a new one and will fit this weekend.
