Howdy Y'all,
I've been trying to finding the clunking sound from underneath my 97 disco, only happens over speed bumps and off road. Finally traced it to the rear shocks, the lower bushes seem to move in and out (up and down) is this normal? If i bounce the tow bar, there's quite a lot of bouncing and not much dampening! I sort of thought they should be fixed in place to give the shocks something to work against? Any ideas before I get the spanners out? cheers

hi just had the same problem would bottom out over speed bumps.
was the bottom bushes on the rear shocks changed them and what a differance, no movement now and has totaly stiffened up the back end

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply, out of interest, did you use LR parts of Poly ones? Thanks again

get em done as soon as cause the bottom part of the shock is constantly wearing away at the bracket it sits in.

Sorted the Clunking, New shock absorbers fitted today, £34 each from LR dealer, fitted in an hour. The rubber grommets had perished. Drives great now, no clunks, much less bouncy too!

Hppens on the TD5 as well. Changed rear shocks (one of which was leaking anyway) and sorted problem.
