allright 2001 disco when im on the highway and let off the gas to coast then get back on the gas theres a clunk not sure what to check i was thinking check the front u joints and check tranny fluid and front and center dif its definatly coming from the middle or front of the vehicle thanksss

 A frame ball joint on a D2.. but could be an iffy rubber 'donut' on the rear propshaft.

Other possibles on the prop shafts include :
Worn UJ
Worn axle pinion splines
Loose drive flange bolts
Excessive backlash in axle gears.

doubt its a ball joint no weird sounds over bumps or anything just when i get off and back on im hoping just a universal joint hopefully not the splines or the backlash in the center diff that would extremely suck. im installing a lift on sunday so i will check the uni joints and play in the driveshafts how can i check the backlash without taking it apart and using a feeler gauge?

I doubt is as well..u an't got one :)

Mine has the same and was changing the handbrake cable today and found loose prop bolts so thought result, then greased uj's and found rear diff has so much slop in it that's why I'm on here to find out what to do about it. Hope it's obvious when you re underneath

Dam i hope its not my rear but id rather that instead of my center diff id say open it up and see how badly its worn maybe you can adjust the lash

allright installed the lift today couldnt find any play in the u joints and i wasnt sure how to check the diff without opening it up but it seems like the front is leaking out of the spot where the driveshaft goes into it maybe its low on diff fluid and it wore out? idk i spun the wheels it feels like a normal diff but i didnt really know what to look for. any ideas?

Drain the oil from the diff and see if there are any metal bits / swarf in it.
