Hi all, A friend has given me 2 leather interiors out of
rrc that hes of roading.
I want to put the best seats out of the two sets into my rrc
but the leather seats are electric and mine are mechanical,
can the frames of the seats be changed so that the leather
seats are mechanical.
I dont suppose its as simple as just putting a 12v feed to
the electric seats to make them work or is it

anything can be changed, it's how bad do you want it.

I think I read somewhere that it is basically as simple as supplying 12v, as long as you have the switches. If you have the seats, can't hurt to try just adding power...

I don't know Classics but I do know electrics.
If you've got the switches then there must be a point where it is just a matter of connecting up a supply and an earth. Electric seats (certainly of that age) are just a matter of a few D.C. motors and the switches supply the feed in the appropriate direction.
Get yourself a wee 12 volt battery, like an alarm battery, to reduce the current that you're playing with and have a play.

there are five feeds.
A) fused Auxillary feed
B) Battery feed (12V+)
C) Fused 12V feed
D) Courtesy Switch Earth
E) Battery feed (12V+)

Taken from the haynes manual.

There is also some relays and an auxillary fuse box under passenger seat. Can your mate give you the extra bits? If not let me know as stripping a 1989 3.9 with leather seats and I'll take the necasary parts out for you for a few beer tokens.

Due to the naff weather i only picked the seats up saturday and after a good scrubbing the leather come up pretty good.
The cushions are dead easy to get of and it took about 2 hours to swap the cushion from the electric seat to my manual one ( including removing the seat out the car and getting it back ). The electric seats didnt have all the motors in them and they had been cut out with an angle grinder.
Any suggestions on a good treatment product for the leather ?
Also if anybody needs a set of brown cloth seat cushions for the front seats and a complete rear seat your welcome to have them. The drivers seat cushion has a small bit of wear on the edge.
