hi gys
been having a small problem with my 99 v8 p38 lately
there is a clonking sound which sounds like its coming from the transfer box
its there when pulling away and noticed today while going through the gears high and low ratio its there also,the car was stationary while doing this.
which kind of ruled out my original theory that the suspension was to blame
now could it be the transfer box?
and how would i tell if it is on its way out

Possible wear in the propshaft UJ's.....

how long has it been since you packed these with grease??

never knew you could grease them so
ill have to get a grease gun first

Rule No.1 -Know your nipples

I'd do a careful check of the UJ's before you drive it again. If one lets go it can be expensive as in smashed gearbox casing,

right im off to grease them up ill let you know the outcome

well ive checked the uj's and no play in them,all greased up and noise still there so look somewhere else now

Hi,
A friend of mine had same problem, turned out to be stretched chain In transfer box.
