Hi,

Can anyone help??? I have an occasional clonking when setting off from standing and a vibration that gets worse at low speeds on my, I have 2 possible answers as to why but would like some expert advice.

1 Is it the universal joint on the propshaft??

2 Is it the CV joint??

I think it is the UJ as it is more of a clank and I have no tell tale rattle when turning a full circle either left or right.

I dont profess to be an expert mechanic, I just get by. So if anyone can elighten me I would be very grateful.

My bus is a 1996 P38 DSE

Thanks

Jamie

Hi got simalar problem on mine, a few people suggestest the engine and gearbox mounts, might be worth checking them first

i also have the same problem, thought it was coming from my front diff, but after a little searching around looks like its more than likely to be uj joints on the propshaft.

Good luck

The engine mountings were also in my mind but with the car stood still and blipping the throttle there is no noise at all. Only the roar of my engine!!!!

just to update you if it helps, i found my problem to be one of the uj joints on the front propshaft

Cheers everyone, we have got 12inches of snow were i live and have had since before Christmas. As I dont have access to a pit or a ramp it is going to have to wait until the snow has gone. Dont fancy lying in the stuff!!!!

revving your engine wont prove if the mounts are gone, you need to have a proper look at them when weather permits. I checked mine last week by trying to move them with a huge bar and couldn't move them at all. Mines a diesel, dont no if it makes a difference
