Just thought I'd do a thread regarding alarms.
Iv got a Clifford alarm on my defender 90 XS 2015 model, (these can be fitted on any defender, even classic land rovers)
The alarm Iv chosen is the most expensive Clifford alarm you can buy, Iv had a couple of extras added too the alarm, 1 been spare wheel protection. Why they do is run a cable to the spare wheel on the back of the truck and fit a Visible socket on it. So if/when somebody decides they need a new spare and your/my car is the perfect candidate, the alarm goes off weather you cut/undo the socket. I also had black Jax 5*, black jax5* is an extra deterrent within the alarm. It is a keypad which you can have hidden or on display if you don't type in your unique code. Your car (with the keys) and alarm fob etc will drive for approx half a mile. Then cut out. But When you get in your car/every time a door opens the black Jax resets and you have to type in your code. Which prevents hi-jacking. It is also run from a separate power point and a the wiring is hidden.

Highly recommended just thought I'd share.

sounds good ,but how much??
All in including fitting was just under £700 of got my proximity sensor turned up full aswell. So if you go with roughly 6-900 mm of the sides of the vehicle it gives of an aggressive chirp(ideal for having lenses stolen or people snooping for pedal lock etc)

Doesn't sound like a bad price for the peace of mind it gives to be honest :)

Check to make sure that the blackjax actually cuts the engine. When I had a clifford fitted to my cabriolet it didn't kill the engine. It merely flashed the brake lights as it's illegal to kill the engine on the vehicle in the uk. It was easy to reprogramme though.;) Blackjax will only kick inwhen the car slows down too. If you got jacked on the motorway and it was a clear road your vehicle could end up 100 miles away before the engine is killed.

having the engine cut out is a bit dangerous isn't it?

if you forget, get up to speed on a dual carriageway and your engine just cuts out

If you forget when you initially set off the alarm will give you a cherp and then a further 2 cherps if continuing to drive. It's very simple to use and comes second nature even when had just a short space of time.
So I'm gonna have to say I completely disagree with you.

Mine doesn't work like that. I don't know when you had your system incorrectly fitted, but was it a blackjax 5* because the bloke assured me that it was an upgraded system? But still if that's the case police would be checking the cameras and would find it in no time at all. Plus majority of the country's motorways are currently 50mph. Anyway the engine would be killed on a slip road somewhere.

Since when are the majority of the UK motorways 50mph?

I was talking about the ones necessary to myself.
And since they started installing/reinstalling extrudakerb in the majority of the country and making it a 50 limit. If my post bothers you feel free not to reply kid

seemed like a fairly innocuous question to me
