Hi,
I have a 300TDI Defender i have noticed today that when i change gear from 5th to 4th only that i get a very audible click. It engages all the gears fine and pulls no problem. Should i worry or is it just a Landy thing?

don't worry made, I only just started hearing a few things on mine that I never heard before.

Its like when you listen to your favorite music track and actually listen to the lyrics!

You should be grateful, every Defender I have ever driven makes a hell of a lot more than just a click when changing gear. ;)

Yes, as the others say, quite normal.
Only worry when it goes from 5th in no particular direction!
That'll then be a broken "bias plate", and easy to fix.

If you sit in the car with the engine off, put it into 5th and try and pull it back into reverse then slowly move it to centre of neutral you'll hear the click. See if that's it

thank you to all have tried it switched off and it is just as you say! so may be a bit of wax fell out of my ear the most important thing is it is not broken thats all that counts!!!!!!
