Well done all the panels except rear door and the roof, managed to do the section behind the rear sunroof but how do I do the bit over the doors safely.

I am not tall, only average.

Will need to wash, clay, polish, and resin coat, once this is done I don't care if it gets dirty as it will be clean under the dirt.

I know it doesn't make sense but I want to make it easy to clean as the dirt falls off after this.

Currently considering putting a small boy on the roof to do it.

short fooker then....... Ladder and a truck brush

I just climb on the bonnet then onto the roof, although my lard arse does tend to dent the roof slightly!

I've not done any detailing, but for general washing and chammy leathering afterwards I've done it in parts: Standing on back bumper, rear doors open & stand on rear tyre and rear footwell whilst holding on to roof bar with one hand, stand on front footwell & sill with front door open..

I get my 14 year old skinny son to do it,

Or, step ladder on one side, a scaffold plank across the ladder to another set of steps, and work off that,

I would advise against offering a 14 year old boy sweets to come and wash your car though!!

I always stand on side steps and climb onto the tyres and hang on the roof rail, same as above really!!
Wonder how many disco owners skip the roof???

So far done it over 4 weekends when weather OK

When it is done the dirt will just fall off

I have a small boy you could use. None of the mines or chimney sweeps round here will take him. They say that they "don't do that sort of thing anymore".

Mind you, he would probably jump around a lot and eat half of your clay bar.

My fall back position is a couple of small trestles and a couple of planks. Or a small bench.

Have a look for trestles at Screwfix, although I got a nice set a few years ago form Aldi.

When I painted my roof, I borrowed 20 old Chemistry stools from work and built a platform around the outside. For everyday jobs, step on the tyre!

I was looking out my upstairs window at my disco, and it struck me how clean and as new looking it was compared to the rest of the landy . It occurred to me, that I have never really washed the roof, and it's this that has kept the paint shiny, and free of swirl marks. My advice, leave it alone. Only time you'll see it is if yer car coups over, and then you will have far more to worry about :D

I want to remove the bird poos and make it look shiney since I rarely clean cars, but when I do I do them thoroughly.
