I'm in the process of fulling rebuilding my 200tdi, I will be sending the block and large bits to my mechanic who has a large cleaner.

I'm wondering what's the best way to clean the auxiliaries, for example my injector pump is caked with mud and I'm a little nervous about cleaning it.

Once I get all the **** off it and back to shiny metal is it safe enough leaving it like that or should I do something to protect it?

DO NOT put an injector pump in the dishwasher!
Soften the mess up with diesel, then rinse off with brake cleaner.

Hehe yeah lol, I've got the homes covered up while cleaning. I was just wondering if it's ok to leave the metal bare after cleaning or should I treat it?

Started cleaning the timing belt cover but have a little trouble cleaning the areas that are heavily pitted, any tips or shall I just keep scrubbing away with the drill and cleaning pads :D
