G'day all

I recently purchased a manual 86 range rover with 190,000 k's on it (118,000 miles).

While i was reversing it into the garage i suddenly lost all power to the wheels.
The engine seems to be running fine and the gears seem to go in ok it just wont drive. It might be the clutch but i am hoping there is a easier solution.

I would really appreciate any help.

Hi cdbanks,

I concur with Iainargyll, to 'all of a sudden' lose drive that sounds like the most reasonable explaination.

If a clutch was to go, they usually go progressivley and possibley start juddering as the friction plate wears. You would also have noticed the engine racing with no appreciable increase in road speed getting worse over time.

Check the High-Low lever first, that sounds the more likley.

Let us know how you get on.

Rgds,
Anthony.

Seems the high-low lever did get knocked, it just didnt want to engage again. So i got a mate to give me a tow down the road a bit and that seems to have allowed it to go in to gear again.
Thanks for the advice.
