Hi all
As mot time comes round again ive got to tackle the replacing of the rear outerarches on my classic,
Ive got the parts and all the equipment but could use some pics or advice on carrying out the job,
Thanks

I would cut the old ones off with an angle grinder first, this is pretty easy!
How are you planning to fix the new arches? Will you weld them on? I only ask because that won't be easy, I've done plenty of steel welding, but I wouldn't fancy my chances with aluminium much! Clearly, they don't need to be welded for the MOT and if you decide to stick them somehow then that would be easier. Perhaps you could braze them, maybe someone could help you further with this option?
In all honesty I would try and repair the existing ones, fitting new ones and then getting the line between new and old spot on is not easy at all.

do you mean outter arches which is the ally wings? I would just replace them with good used ones- easy to find.

if you mean the inner steel ones on the door shuts , you can buy em I think from YRM or even the likes of padwanks then you just cut em off and weld on the new ones its all steel so its easy.

if its the real inner wings, take off the outter ally ones to get to both sides and cut out all the rot and weld em up with new bits of plate

oh check out my albums I ve done a 2 door and a 4 door classic

Sorry i wasnt clear,
its the steel outer wings inside the rear door shuts, ive got replacements off ebay and ive cut the old ones off, ive gone as far as a facebook request to find a better welder than me,

shame you simply couldnt be further from me or I would gladly weld if up for you :)

so long as you do/have done the cutting and grinding it would be a pleasure !

What's your time scale for the job?
I'm heading North at the end of the month and could take a trip West to assist

thank for the offer guys, i roped my uncle in to do the tricky bits and will finish off the other bits my self in between breaks in the snow.
Really need to get Hot Fuzz back on the road for the snow.
Wifes cars not up to this kind of weather,

Ive been taking pics as i go to make up a rough guide on how to do this.

Will keep you all posted on the MOT outcomes!!!!!!
