[GALLERY=][/GALLERY]Hi all, my first post since introducing myself so hope I got the title format right.

I am restoring a 1983 2 door classic. I realise that it is almost impossible to find the original beige velour upholstery today but wondering if anyone here has any smart ideas re a sensible alternative...

Mine's an '86 with the grey teddy bear type fabric & other than trying to find a decent used one I'm stumped too.
It's the driver's seat on mine as well & when I finally decide to sort it properly - currently got covers on both fronts - if I can get a decent passenger seat I'll try swapping the fabric over.

Right now she is white but I am planning to respray in Sahara Dust. I have been in touch with RJ Turner Car trimming in Kent who have the Teddy Bear Grey in stock - sadly I don't think it would look right with the new colour plan I have. Doubt they will supply you with the fabric but if you want them to do the work...

I know it’s cheeky did you ask them whee you may get some from?
Birmingham have a lot of old school upholstery

I'm amazed by the picture of the driver's seat, who (or what) has been sitting on it o_O
I've owned four RRC's & all had seat cushions that ranged from decent to excellent, even an '85 with teddy-bear spec. that had intergalactic mileage.

It is not the cushion, it was the diaphragm thatbhad completely rotted away. Was part intact when I picked her up but collapsed under me as I drove home. I weigh about 12 stone so not an outrageous amount. Was vaguely amusing as I kept slipping lower and lower

I like the Palameno Kit kat trim used in the early 2 doors. Hmm. ;)

have you seen the price of palomino vinyl seat covers.. if you can get them.. I saw some going for £900 per seat base not that long ago. and its still british Leyland quality vinyl. a couple of years and it will look like poo

They aren't exactly cheap, but Kingsley Cars could probably be worth trying. They are restorers themselves, but wouldn't hurt to ask if they could track down the fabric.
