afaik you cannot chrome ally.
if you really want some ally to look like chrome, then get someone to make you a copy of the item in summat like dural. you can polish that all day long and itll come up nice and shiny!

ALI can be highly polished!!! looks very nice you wudnt know the difference between polished ali and stainless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hope this helps

You can chrome ally. I've had it done.

The problem is with the condition of the ally as to the quality of the finish and its durability. Have a word with a chrome plateing company to get the real story.

the problem with polishing aluminium is that you have to keep polishing it otherwise it looks like unpolished aluminium, i DO NOT want to polish it, so therefore i asked if it can be chrome plated.thank you for your replies,
GRUNT, where are you , is the platers that done your aluminium near yu, let me know , thanks ;)

It was 30 odd years ago somewhere in Leeds. I'd trashed the engine up on my Bonnie and got a replacement engine. It was the T140 Jubilee which had chrome casings, the primary chanecase was missing so I got a standard ally one and had it chromed along with the fork legs which were also ally.

Try the yellow pages (electro platers), there are five places in Hull so I imagine there will be plenty in more civilized places.
