I have just purchased new chrome lettering for the tailgate of my 2001 Range Rover and I would appreciate some advice on how to safely remove the old lettering in order to fix the new lettering? Very many thanks.

Hi

heat the old letters up with a hair dryer and you can peel them off with no problems or glue marks did it on mine front and rear looks very good.

good luck

Tony:)

How are you going to line the letters up exactly? Been considering the same as you on my L322, but scared of 1 letter being a nat's penis out................. :(

Trying to remember the name of the show...two guys buy a car and fix it up for profit, they did a P38 a while back and showed pretty well how to apply the lettering. They did the front lettering, but I'm sure same applies to rear.
The letters are already spaced out on the tape, you just have to get it centred right.

Hopefully someone else has a better memory than me!

I like the bit where he goes on about sourcing the right parts to keep it all the same, and then sticks a pre-2000 headlight on it! :D

Yeah that's the one. And fitting a new EAS compressor which sorted all out. And the window tints really added to the value. Cowboys. It certainly is not a programme to watch and pick tips up off. But to be fair there is only a limited amount they can get through in an episode. The EAS could have taken up a whole series on it's own and then still have been on the bump stops. Also Range Rovers should not be lifted on two post ramps.:D:D:D

I marked the old ones before I took them off. That got the centering OK and the lettering i bought cane in a pack with them already spaced. must say I've now changed both back and front and I m very pleased. The nylon thread is the best method of taking them off by the way.
