Hi all does anyone know a good company to get me td5 chipped in nothants...ta:D

I'm assuming that's Northants? Contact Dynachip Tuning - Mike - he comes to you and does a great job.

I can also recomend Mike at Dynachip Tuning he came and did mine very helpfull and certainly knows his stuff...Tony

What year is the car, 1998 to 2002 can't be chipped without having a new chip fitted completely, a lot more money if that's the case.

I do wish people wouldn't talk about stuff they know nowt about.

Dynachip flash remap £225; Dynachip replace chip with flashable chip £250.

Hardly a lot more was it?????

plus with the risk of hgf

I reckon folks almost never get headgasket problems due to a re-map. They are much more likely to get hgf due to not monitoring the coolant level and running them dry.

I've had several TD5's re-mapped and none have had hgf or exhaust manifold issues.

I suppose if you were to thrash the flaps of it all day every day with no maintenance you might get trouble -but that goes for any engine in any state of tune.

The TD5 is a great engine and capable of large power outputs - 200bhp+ - without issues; if properly planned, installed and maintained.

It frustrates me that people come out with such stuff without any real experience or evidence.

A classic issue with loads of modern diesels is that they don't get their coolant changed regularly enough - if ever!! It's so easy and cheap to empty out the old stuff, flush out the coolant circuit and refill with new stuff - but no it just doesn't happen, and then folks say their engine isn't reliable.

How many time have we read in these pages "my Disco has been losing coolant for the last 6 months and now it's started running rough" - no **** sherlock, why didn't you sort it out 6 months ago? Tossers.

No it's not, mike charged an extra £ 25 supplied me with an ecu with a chip in and took mine away which he would put a chip in and use that for his next punter. Mines a 2001 defender .

Do you think it's money well spent? What kind of improvement did you gain?

fook hg is one of them

how do you work out headgasket??

if the coolant has been changed and the car hasn't had it's balls flogged off, head gasket shudn't be a problem,
my 2000 disco had been done at near new, Lakeland landrover did it, 34mpg, went into Kentdale landrover for waranty work as it was nearer at the time, mechanic there said he had never been in a disco as quick, 120k, later sold to a guy in devon came all the way to cumbria for it , still going strong, but car had full serv history, car wanted for nothing,
so how do you work out head gasket?? so many other cannot!!!

improves mpg, lot more acceleration, or set to how you drive,

£250.00 well spent if thats what it costs, gonna get my 2004 done when i get around to it

Thanks everyone for ya feedback, I agree that regular basic service work will help you for see any obvious issues you might have developing.Working in the motor trade I come across all sorts of issues that could have been more economical to repair if the vehicle was inspected regular .

yeh you are right,

no point chipping an engine that uses oil or coolant, also you dont want to boost it upto 300hp either lol
common sense!!!
