am looknig to buy a 3.0 diesel L322 soon and wondered what tuning options were available? New to RR's and last time I tuned a car was years ago with a crude chip for a Ford  Im guessing theres some good tuners out there, what sort of power can i be looking at and for what money?

Not after a 500bhp monster just sometihng with a little more go and ability to keep up with traffic etc

Thanks in advance

Not too familiar with L322 but the consensus does seem to be to avoid anything pre 2005.

Cheers outland, i'm guessing performance wil lbe improved and any flat spots ironed out, but what will it do to the economy of it? Some say it improves it, making it more fuel efficient, some say it'll drink more as its more powerful?

Mr Blonde,

Where in the UK are you I have two chippers to recommend in the Derbyshire/Staffs area.

Also, I would add that I have got a 2002 L322 TD6, and it's fine apart from a few perfectly fixable niggles.

Nige.

Cheers Nige, I'm in Hertfordshire, just north of the M25

And I'm glad to her of another owner who hasnt had loads of problems, I fell in love with a L322 TD6 i test drove Sunday and am determined to get one!

Thanks again

TD6's are quite underpowered for the size of car they have to pull. If it were me, I'd go for a 4.4V8... Its a bmw 7 series engine, slightly Modded, it much more powerful, much smoother, and you could prob find a few LPG'd ones nowadays...

Cheers Mike B, had considered a V8 with LPG but was worried about cheap or crappy installs/more to go wrong/overheating issues etc, V8's seem to be a few grand cheaper than the TD6's even with LPG fitted (deosnt seem to make them worth anymore for resale value)

Depending on how long you intendt to keep the car, the cheaper purchase price could pay fr an lpg install, or simply pay the difference in fuel costs, caused by worse consuption.

V8 was awesome enigine, I hated the TD6... take both for a drive and see what you think.. It's your choice ofter all!

Cheers again

Mike, i test drove a V8 before Christmas but was pretty rushed and didnt feel overly comfortable with the seller so it was a brief viewing, tested a TD6 on sunday and loved it, granted i wasnt racing it around, more a leisurely cruise round the village lanes, tihnk ill try out another V8 and see what i think

I'll put my two pennies worth in having had two remapped TD6 L322's. A remap or tuning box is vital in getting a more driveable and fuel efficient car from experience.

My first one had a tunit plug in box on it and the performance increased greatly to around 215bhp but it felt so much freer on pick up rather than having to work the engine just to pull out of a junction. The average MPG went up from 22 to 26 with that one.

The first thing I did when I bought my current TD6 was fit another tunit box but it turns out that my range had already been remapped as the box played havoc with the electronics. (I couldnt tell it had been remapped as I had come from an Audi A4 turbo with 280bhp - 0 to 60 in 6 secs!:D).

My current car is plenty quick enough and I've had over 30 mpg out of it on the motorway up to the lake district sat in the fast lane all the way there. It averages around 25 -26 in mixed town/motorway driving which is what my audi was doing so I'm happy with that considering the size of the car.
