Hello

I have a Defender 90tdi and I am currently trying to figure out how to fit a child car seat safely into the centre seat. It's my first Defender and I have only had it for a week so I'm still wet behind the ears in terms of mods and accessories, does anyone have any suggestions or solutions?

Hi had a simular prob getting a toddlers seat to fit my vauxhall frontera (bllur gone now) to many to choose from that dont fit but some do take a lap belt in the center. Are you near cardiff? their's a very good shop called eddishaws and they are very helpful

If you can find a child car seat which conforms to the piece of legislation below that the manufacturer states is safe with the use of a lap belt only, I'd be very interested too. What age child are you talking about?

Modern child restraints are designed for specific weight ranges of child. They have to meet UN ECE Regulation 44.03 (or subsequent eg 44.04) type approval standard and be marked with a label (showing an "E" and "44.03" or ".03") and the Group number, or weight range of child, for which it is designed.

I was palnning (since I've removed the centre seat0 to fit a forward facing fold up rear seat & 4 point seatbelt for adult passengers & continue to put the child seat on the passenger seat in the front.

The whole kit for 1 seat from Exmoor Trim works out at about £180 delivered. They do a seat which is approved for use with a child seat, but that's around 500 knicker!

Interested to know how you get on tho'.

i think it was a britax or mamas and papas the stage two aged 1 till 3 ish. It was a mulity fit 3point or lap belt had a lever at the front to tension the belt so it was tight. The lady in the shop said it was better to be central out of the way of side impacts.

Thanks, I have purchased a 3 point inertia belt from exmoor trim. This can be fitted to the bulkhead behind the seats, This allows you to fit a child / booster seat into the front centre seat........
