Have it on my wing tops and bonnet so I can stand on them for easy access to my roof rack for sea fishing etc, the chequer plate down the sides is holding my doors together : )

I have a roof rack on the classic safari 109 and keep walking on the wings..... 15 years ago i'd have slapped chequer on it straight away but nowadays just can't bring myself to do it lol ..... must be my age but really not a fan of a tax exempt series plastered in chequer lol.... 'old git' lol

cheers steve

+ 2 then!

Would rather repaint the wings when needed, would spoil any series!!
Not gonna add it to my 110 either, though in moderation it looks ok on some builds :)

cornish rattler or anyone else is there any specific way to paint chequer plate cos my blue disco has silver chequerplate on the door bottoms which yes is probably hiding scabby doors bottoms but I want to have it black so it is less in your face than the silver but seen as I already have the shaped plate I don't want to be forking out for new chequer plate just to change the colour. can i just use hammerite seen as I have some, or does it need spraying or some other prep first?

key it up and etc primer it before adding the top colour. I prefer satin black to matt but found that it came off to easy. I used hammerite spray ans the last time and it seems to be more durable and is lasting longer. I do standon my wings and bonnet too.

A must for me for bonnet & wings for climbing on roof rack and makes great kitchen/bathroom shelfs when camping, wunt put it any where else though except happen inside back door !
