Went to landrover to price the fitting of a new rocker cover gasket. They gave me a spiel about how the injectors go through the rocker cover, they said if an injector get stuck, and they break it getting it out, I would have to pay!! I told the bloke to suck my balls, i said I wasn't paying for something they break!!

Mick.

Isn't that the normal way garages work? They follow the correct precedure, but if something brakes as it's weak, it's not at their cost? Or the replacement part is supplied at cost price.

You have to remove the injectors to take the rocker cover orf?? what sort of fooked up design is that???

Its well known mate.

Those injectors weld themselves into the head, and are sometimes impossible to get out unless you smash the rocker cover up, to get to the head bolts, to unbolt the head, then take head to engineering shop, to get it pressed/pulled out, or sometimes spark eroded out.

Even a 12 tonne hydraulic puller sometimes struggles to get a seized injector out.

Happens with Mercs, BMWs, VWs etc.
