A few winters days with the 2 dogs in the back has reminded me why carpet in the back of land rovers is not a good idea. I currently have carpet with a rubber mat on the middle section of the floor but this is going to be hard work to clean out every time the lads have been in. I'm looking at possibly putting checker plate down, easy to clean but hopefully they wont skid about like on the smooth metal floor. Does anyone know if it stops dogs slipping?
I ve seen kits on ebay but am thinking it cant be hard to cut out a few pieces and seal them in but is it a major saving to do it that way? I've no idea of the price of checker plate anymore in order to make my own kit up.
 
Personally I just use cardboard, take it out and fold it away why you dont need it,

I have a Golden Labrador, You will never get the hairs out once they get in !
 
Dog hairs are sadly a part of my life! When they have been in the landy a while its the dust I notice that's comes off the long coated shepherd. Settles everywhere! I used to have a L200 pick up thing and that was great as I could park it facing uphill and just hose the back out. I don't expect to get that with the landy but it would be nice to get it where I could sweep it out.
 
Marine ply? That was what was in mine when I bought it but I took it out in favour of sound proofing and carpet :D
 
Stable matting is good and will provide more warmth for the dogs than chequer would.

It's tough stuff so they will struggle to chew it.
 
This is how my tub is got rubber mating on the sides the marine ply and trailer board on the floor the box is just for storage

And that's with his bed on the box
 
I've got checker rubber in the tub, all edges sealed with tigerseal, I just wash it out, the dog grips it easily
 
chequer plate is slippery as hell and skins yer knuckles when you pick things up off it. It also makes the inside of yer landy cold in winter. I decked out pretty much the whole floor in my V8 110 csw with it. I then put the original carpets back on top of it.:doh:
 
Ah right. So not good for damp paws then. Don't want the little buggers slipping and sliding and breaking a leg.
 
What they said.... I have stall matting. It's about 18mm thick. Comes in a sheet, cut to size. Pretty cheap too.
 
Personally I'd go for the rubber matting for the sake of your pooch as said chequer is cold slippy and harsh on paws.
 
Attached is a photo of the stall matting I purchased, cut to fit as front matts. 4x6 sheet, weights about 45kg.

I did the same thing for the second row and cargo area.
