I'm having serious second thoughts now - it's still available, and after a few days running around in my missus' Polo I'm looking forward to fixing throttle bodies! :D

God I'm crap at decisions.

Tis a very fast 4X4 with throttle bodies but it's expensive to do and will need other things as well like heavy duty clutch and new ECU.

stay clear mate, more trouble than its worth.
ive got the 1.8k series, and i do love it, i really do. Would i trust it to get me somewhere if i needed? hell no.

I just meant replacing the plastic throttle body that is on there already for a metal one. :)

Ah, well upgrading to the 52mm alloy throttle body is easy and cheap enough sure. Remove the airbox and fit a conical K&N filter while you're at it. Will make it grunt quite nicely.

How straight forwards is upgrading, and what will it do to the economy?

Cheers.

Upgrading is very easy, just a bolt on, bolt off job with the throttle cable to swap over and a electrical plug for the throttle position sensor to unplug and plug back in ;)

Consumption wouldn't be much different, go for the conical filter as well and you'd probably be about the same as with the airbox and a 48mm throttle body.

Of course my consumption went up, i couldn't keep my foot off the accelerator as i enjoyed the intake noise so much :D
