It's time for some payback to a forum I love to read but rarely contribute to.

I've been doing my first service on my 110 csw which has all been fine until I get to change the oil in the gearbox and transfer box. How do I get oil in there without spending silly money?

Here's my solution for a grand total of £9 for two! One for my transfer box oil (EP80W-90 GL4) and one for my gearbox oil (MTF94). This is my set up on the 5l bottle of transfer box oil.

The pump that pretty much screws into the top of the bottle is from a company called ecover who do eco cleaning stuff. Each pump does about 25ml of fluid and it move gear oil just fine. The tube is from a local pond shop but you could source some homebrew tube from the high street I bet. (Shorter walk to the pond shop!) I then shoved the tube on the little spout and cable tied it tight.

I used a sandwich bag clip to keep the oil dripping from the end when I'd finished (I didn't pay for that but knicked it from the kitchen!)

In use I just shoved the plastic tube into the fill hole and then pumped away under the landy till oil came out. Simple, cheap and very effective. What's not to love?

I use an old garden pressure sprayer. Same principle but you can do the pumping in a more comfortable position before crawling under the motor.
 
similar idea ,,i use the pump action garden spray with a length of clear tube,,pump the bottle pull the trigger oil flows ...
 
That's the beauty of a cheap solution I just bough two pumps! £3 each. So one stays in each 5L bottle. Had to decant the gearbox oil as the bottle opening was too big but I had an old screenwash 5L that I cleaned out and used.
 
I borrowed one of these to do my G/box and I got more oil on myself than in the box, they are ****e.

Have to agree, my Draper one absolutely drenched me, and the internal rubber just wasn't up to it - james recommended another make which I've ordered but not yet tried - will look it up if anyone interested

I tried the garden sprayer and it worked fine with ATF but when I tried to use it with the 80w/90 into the axles or transfer box it just broke due to the oil being too thick. So I got a 100ml syringe off eBay with a length of tube. This works well in that I suspect that the seal is better than the draper 500ml only on the basis that I did not get covered in oil!! However, it does take longer because you have to keep filling the bugger up. I think it s a choice of quick job but get messy or slow job but keep clean.

Oil syringe jm recommended was a Samoa - just in case anyone is reading back through this thread and interested:)

Some times you get a good un other times its like you say - but all ya got to do if it leaks is strip it down ( threaded each end ) and tighten up the seal retainer/spreder nut :) . If there dented bin it
 
Been thinking about the best way to get oil in there for a while. I haven't tried a garden sprayer but just assumed they wouldn't be able to push the EP90 through?

A pump like in the first post looks good, think I'll try and get one of them.
