Hello all

recently brought a chassis off Richards...... for a series 3 V8 stage one!!
On the back right hand axel where the leaf goes onto the front hanger... It is bent in you can't get the front of the leaf spring in the gap at all. You can see where the galvanised has been broken!!! Has anyone had this before????? can you just knock in out with a hammer and block of wood and be done with it. Or take things further??? As you all know chassis are not the cheapest things to buy....

Any help would be great

thanks guys!!!!

Proving who damaged it will be a problem I would have thought. It would be very expensive to put it how it should be galv wise so I would be very surprised if it got sorted foc.
It's not a part that rots away readily so wack it out and cold galv rattle can it.
Worth a call to Richards though, you might be plesently surprised?

ring them.

I just called them about them giving me the wrong gearbox x-member with my chassis (bolt in type). they're sending the correct one out to me - despite the fact that it's been at least 6 months, and I'd painted the one they sent me.

Nice.. But...the OP chassis was damaged after it was galved, afaik Richards don't do their own galv?
I wonder...do the chassis's return to Richards after galv? If they do then its Richards or whoever delivered its fault.

Either way, a call to them is the first port of call I'd have thought.

Right ok thank you all, I have given them a ring and now they want some pictures....... Will hopefully here with in the next couple of days n let y'all know what happens here!!

The only thing is is I went though devon 4x4 which went thought bearmach cause its easier to have it delivered to there than it is our place cause its tight for anything bigger than van so anything could have happened in any of those places!!!
like you say wheres the evidence of however did the damage going to be impossible to find out!!!

I did go to them originally but they said they would probably not fix it FOC!!!
So the more I think about it galv rattle can n a hammer

a lot of people have used galvafroid to good effect, relatively cheap and readily available looks very shiny to start with but ages nicely

Hello everyone thank you for all you help :)

richards have got back to me and they said to just knock out with a hammer and be done with it, I will just stick on some galv paint and carry on........... TILL THE NEXT PROBLEM ;)
